The origin of Marini Salumi has a long and deep tradition dating back to 1966. Current owners Giovanni Rea (and family) and Rino Arnone (and family) have come together to form this new union between two independent Italian salami manufacturers. Rinos father Alfredo, created Bona Foods way back in ’66 and his first hire was none other than Giovanni who at the time was working for Primo Foods making salami. Bona Foods thrived throughout the decades as employees and customers alike were treated like family and friends.
In 1986 Giovanni decided it was time to forge his own path and created Rea Foods, thus introducing the now famous “Rea Sausage”. Over the course of the next 25 years, Rea and Bona often competed against each other for market share. In 2012 the two companies and owners came together under one roof and so began Marini Foods. Marini now produces products in both the Rea brand and Bona brand as well as some Marini brand products as well.
With the second generation Rea’s and Arnone’s now deeply enveloped in the day to day of Marini Salumi, the future looks bright for another 50 years of great tasting and authentic salami products.
